What is the difference between Abridged and Unabridged Audio Books?
Unabridged Audio Books
These are audiobooks that have the complete book, word for word in audio, nothing is cut out. Sometimes even the index, and the authors dedication are included.
Abridged AudioBooks
Abridged are cutdown versions of the book, they take the highlights of the book. The level of abridgedment can vary, from one that has 70% of the original book, to some that only do 25% of the book
As an example you can get two main versions of The 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey. The Unabridged version is 13 CDs and 14 hours long. This is the whole book word for word. There is a second version of the 7 Habits is an Abridged version which is 3 CDs and 3.3 hours long. So this abridged version is approximately 25 % the length of the Unabridged version.
