Known primarily for his war poetry, Sassoon published "MOAFHM" anonymously, fearing prejudice due to his poetical background. Although the title would suggest the book is largely about fox-hunting, it is mainly about the colourful characters Siegfried knew as a young boy, and fox-hunting itself becomes more of a symbolic notion throughout the novel, encapsulating the time between the wars for Sassoon.
